2025년, 1텀이 끝나고 아이의 방학이 찾아왔다.

2025년, 아이와 단 둘이 1텀을 무사히 끝냈다.

작년에는 가족유학으로 남편과 함께 세가족이 1년동안 지내면서

텀이 끝날때마다 축하,격려 파티를 진행했었는데, 올해는 둘만 남아있어 아쉽긴 했다.

아빠도 같이 해야한다는 아이의 말에 아빠는 금요일 이른 퇴근을 하고 한국시간 5시 반,

페이스톡으로 남편도 함께 1텀 종강파티를 열었다.

저녁은 아이가 선주문한 치즈돈까스. 치킨돈까스에 치즈를 올려서 만든 야매 치돈이지만

아이는 모르는 것 같다. 맛있으면 장땡!!

브리즈번 2년차, YEAR5 1텀은 어떻게 보냈나 하고 돌이켜본다.

크게 바뀐건 없지만, 작년대비 아이의 영어 스피킹향상을 위해 링글틴즈를 시작하게 되었다. (링글틴즈는 현재 10번 수업에 참여하고 있고 후기는 따로 올려보려고 한다.)

 

- 아침 스피킹 연습 

우리집식구 세명 모두 스픽을 가입해서 사용중이다. 아침에 입트이고 말을 많이 하게 되는데는 이만한 어플이 없다고 느낀다. 엄마아빠가 하는 모습을 보고 아이도 해보고 싶다고 해서 어쩌다 보니 한집안 세명이 사용하고 있는 어플.

올해도 여전히 아침 7시에 일어나서 스피킹 연습 10~20분정도 꾸준히 하고 있는 착실한 아들. 

스픽을 통한 아이의 스피킹 실력 향상은? 글쎄.. 그래도 아침에 입풀기 연습과 함께 Lesson 마다 하나라도 깨닫게 되는 표현이 있다면 그것으로 만족한다.

 

- 아침 리딩앤 리딩

지금은 1년 구독이 끝났다. 아이에게 원서읽기를 거부감 없는 방향으로 이끌기위해 선택한 리딩앤.

유감스럽게도 1년이 끝난 지금. 아이는 가장 자신에게 도움이 안되었다고 이야기를 한다.

아이는 자기주도학습을 하는 편이고, 짜여진 일정표대로 스스로 시간을 배분해서 일정을 소화하는 편인데

리딩앤은 아이가 느끼기에 지루함이 먼저 들었던 것 같다. 

그래서 리딩앤은 추가 구독없이 만료된 상태이고, 아이의 리딩시간을 늘려주기 위해서 고민을 하고 있다.

 

- 방과후, 기타레슨 

1:1 개인레슨으로 작년에 이어 진행하고 있으며,  집에서 차로 15분정도 이동하면 학원에 도착하는데, 30분 수업이다.

지금은 기타줄을 잡고 음을 낼수있는 정도이고, 차근차근 악보를 보는 방법을 몸에 익히고 있다.

꾸준히 해나간다면 아이가 스스로 기타연주를 할수있는 날이 있을 것 같다.

 

- 방과후, 골프레슨

그룹레슨으로 작년에 이어 계속 진행하고 있는 골프.

한국에 있을때부터 가족이 다함께 라운딩하기위해 아이도 일찌감치 골프의 세계에 발을 들여놓았지만

아직은.... 골프를 잘하는지는. (3년을 배웠는데 스윙은 나아지고 있지만, 거리나 정타에 있어서 아직은?!)

아이는 뛰는 운동을 안좋아하는데, 그래서 골프를 더 좋아하는 것일수도 있다.

왜 골프를 좋아하는지 물었더니 클럽페이스가 공이 닿았을때 그 깨끗한 소리가 기분을 좋게한다. 라고 정확하게 표현한 걸 보니 골프가 좋긴 좋은것 같다. 그리고 3년 배운 운동이라 그만큼 자신감을 보여줄수있는 종목인 것 같다.

 

- 링글틴즈

브리즈번에서 1년 지내고 아이라서 금방 영어가 늘줄 알았는데, 아이마다 그리고 성향마다 케바케 인것 같다.

아이는 아직도 영어를 힘들어하고, 영어앞에서 소극적인 모습을 보이고 있다.

그래도 꾸준히 학교에서 수업을 듣고 친구들 사이에서 영어노출환경이기때문에 2년정도면 괜찮을 거야~ 라고 애써 마음을 다잡았긴 했지만, 내년 YEAR6 가 걱정이 되었다.

YEAR6 는 Middle school 인데, 아이에게  중학교 가기전에 조금더 자신감을 실어줄 무언가를 엄마로서 인풋해주고 싶었다. 아이 역시, 영어를 잘하고 싶다고 계속 얘기했었고, 아이와 화상영어를 하는 쪽으로 협의해서 링글틴즈를 선택해서 진행하고 있다. 지금까지 10번 수업을 진행했고 아이는 큰 거부감 없이 진행하고 있다.

6개월 구독권을 구매해서 진행하고 있는데 6개월 뒤에 아이의 영어 실력에 대해 후기를 써보려고 한다.

5학년 담임선생님은 주차별로 학교에서 이루어졌던 활동을 세밀하게 보내주셔서 아이의 학교생활을 파악하기가 작년대비 수월했다.

English / Science / Math / HASS / Health 과목으로 나뉘어서 각 주마다 진행했던 내용을 파악할수 있었다.

지난주, 선생님 면담 시간에 선생님이 각 주차별로 아이들의 학습상황을 체크해서 업데이트 했던 내용을 볼수있었는데

선생님의 꼼꼼한 면모를 볼수있었다.

선생님 말이 너무 빨라서 다 이해는 할수 없었지만, 아이가 점점 좋아지고 있다는 것을 볼수있어서 안심이 되었다.

물론, 평가할 수준이 아님 에서 평가가 가능한 수준. 이해완료. 정도이지만 나로서는 너무나 가슴벅찬 아이의 성장이었다.
